DRN Radio

DRN was founded in 2017 and is owned by Falcon Group's Home Media. It closed in 2018 for unknown reasons. DRN broadcast news and entertainment, and was launched at a large ceremony attended by political and media figures. After the radio stopped, Egyptian Media company announced that it would use the same DRN frequency to launch the ON sport radio, without announcing any deal between Falcon Group and Egyptian Media Group concerning the sale of the radio.
Suspicions are being raised about links between Falcon Group and the military intelligence service, as Falcon chairman, Sherif Khaled, was formerly a military intelligence officer. Falcon also sold Al Hayah channels to the Egyptian Media Group less than a year after Falcon acquisition of the Al Hayah network. Al Hayah was then owned by the former head of the Wafd Party, El Sayed El Badawi. Egyptian Media Group is a company owned by the General Intelligence Service.
It was announced that DRN radio programs stopped in July 2018, and the radio continued to broadcast only songs. In September 2018, ON Sport station was launched on DRN’s frequency, and it also uses DRN’s website.
