Dar Al Tahrir for Printing and Publishing is a State-owned media organization. As such, it is managed by the National Press Authority.

Dar Al Tahrir for Printing and Publishing was founded in 1953, after Gamal Abdel Nasser submitted a request to issue a daily newspaper. Gamal Abdel Nasser was then one of the members of the Revolutionary Command Council - a movement of military officers that seized power and ended the monarchy in 1952. Since then, Dar Al Tahrir has become the voice of the leaders of the Free Officers' Movement. Former President Anwar Al-Sadat took over as General Manager of Dar Al Tahrir between 1953 and 1956. He was its chairman from 1956 to 1959.

Dar Al Tahrir for printing and publishing owns 4 companies: Dar Al-Gumhuriya for Press, Eastern Advertising Company, Egyptian Advertising Company and United Distribution Company.

Dar Al Tahrir for Printing and Publishing currently publishes a large number of newspapers and magazines: Al Gomhuria newspaper, Al Masa newspaper, Al Egyptian Gazette (in English), Al Egyptian Mail (in English), La Bourse Egyptienne (in French), Le Progrès Egyptien (in French), Aqeedaty (My doctrine), Horyaty (My freedom), Al Raay (Opinion), Al Koura wa el mlaaeb (Football and Stadiums), Al Alem Magazine (Science magazine), and Ketab Al Gomhuria . The publications of Dar Al Tahrir vary between daily, weekly and monthly.
