Link Online was established in 2002. The company owns a large number of internet portals and provides internet services and e-content in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa. Its activities include online traffic management, e-services, e-advertising, online content services, wireless connectivity, e-payment services, web site purchase, management, collection and content exchange.According to press reports, Link Online owns the following websites: Masrawy, Yalla Kora, Otlob, El3ab, Yalla Bina, Careermideast.com, jawhara.com and arabia.com.
Link Online was one of the companies of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding (Currently Orascom Investment Holding). In 2014, Orascom announced the sale of certain of its assets and their subsidiaries – including Link Online - to Accelero Capital for a total value of 140 million EGP (almost 8 million USD). Naguib Sawiris, the founder and head of Orascom is also a shareholder of Accelero Capital. In 2016, Sawiris launched ONA Media Group. According to a report published by ONA news website, Tarek Morshed, managing director of ONA Media Group and Masrawy said that the group includes Masrawy, Yalla Kora, Veto, Mazika and a number of specialized sites in addition to future expansions in digital media and content production.Several media reported that Sawiris owns Masrawy website and more recently, journalist Magdi Al Galad said that Sawiris chose him to supervise the websites he owns: Masrawy, ONA, Yalla Kora, and Al Konsolto.
