Nile News was launched in 1998 as a public channel offering free news content in politics, economy, sports, as well as talk shows. It initially belang to the Nile TV network of the Radio and Television Union (currently the National Media Authority), and law later administratively transferred to the Egyptian News Center of the National Media Authority.
Like any state-owned media outlet, Nile News is managed by the National Media Authority.

Amr El Shennawi, assumed the post of Head of News Sector in March 2018, by a decision of the President of the National Media Authority, Hussein Zein. He was previously the head of the Nile News Channel.
Amira Salem, is president of the Nile News Channel who assumed her position in March 2018, by a decision of the President of the National Press Authority Hussein Zein, succeeding Amr Al-Shennawi, who was promoted to the post of head of the news sector.
